Jilly Jewel

Description

Miniature roses are perfectly scaled, smaller versions of larger roses, with all the colors, forms, substance, and often, fragrance of full-sized roses. Dwarf roses are pretty tough plants. They re almost always propagated and grown on their own roots, which gives them greater hardiness than many other types of roses. These plants reach full size quickly, and they flower big-time all season long. Miniatures make beautiful up-front plants

Jilly Jewel is clothed in dark green foliage that sets off masses of ice-pink blooms. Long buds open into perfect, fragrant exhibition roses. The plant is upright and extremely vigorous. Blooms are produced singly and in sprays

Environment

Dwarf roses grow well indoors or out and are useful colourful plantings in areas where space is limited. The plant needs to go outside in a sunny balcony or terrace where light is sufficient and conditions are better for healthy growth.

Smaller plants mean smaller roots, and smaller roots don t grow very deep in the soil. Hence mini-rose needs more frequent watering.

Frequent small doses of fertilizer shall be required.

Landscape Uses

Containers, Borders

Flowering plants need access to bright sunlight to remain healthy and blooming. An easy facing balcony is the best place for the plants in Indian conditions. Try keeping them in bright sunlight but also where they get a little cover from the harsh afternoon sun. Some plants which are a little tender tend to burn due to the same.

Plants with thin leaves need daily watering and ones with thick leaves need watering 3-4 times a week. This will also depend on the season. Generally during the blooming period, plants love a lot of water. Try keeping the soil moist. During winters it is better to cut back on watering.

Keep the plants in a well drained soil with a drainage hole at the bottom. This will help to avoid over watering. Take care as to not leave stagnant water on top of the soil. Fertilise the plant once in 2-3 weeks during its blooming period. Do not fertilise it in winters.
