Product Description

ZZ 'Raven' plant is a new & rare variety with feathered lime green new growth that turns a dramatic purple-black color as it ages.

ZUZU Plant

Family

Araceae

Origin

Eastern Africa

Environment

Bright to low light. Keep it out of direct sunlight which can scorch its leaves.

Water thoroughly and allow the top 2 in (5 cm) of soil to dry out between waterings. Soggy soil will cause the rhizomes to rot. The ZZ plant is adapted to surviving droughts, therefore heavy constant watering without allowing the soil to dry out in between, will turn the leaves yellow before rotting the tubers away.

Fast-draining soil works best to avoid root rot. Mix 1 part good-quality all-purpose potting mix and 1 part sharp sand or perlite. Cactus mix works well, too.

Feed 4 times a year with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted by half.

Description
Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Raven' has the same qualities as it's popular sibling, the ZZ Plant. It's characterized by thick, glossy leaves that start out lime green growth and turn purple black with maturity. The plant has feathered leaves which grow to a length of 40 to 60cm. The leaves on the thick stems are smooth, shiny and dark black. They are a fleshy type which are only a couple of inches in length and an inch or so wide. The plant can flower, but rarely does indoor sand. the arum-like flowers grow from the base of the plant.

Zuzu plant is capable of removing significant amounts of xylene, toluene, benzene and ethylbenzene from the air.

Landscape Use

Great container plant for the patio or deck

Foliage plants in general need access to bright indirect sunlight. Avoid keeping them in direct sunlight as it can cause leaves to burn due to extreme sunlight in the afternoon.

Make sure watering is done once the soil goes dry. Although the soil can remain moist, but it should not turn soggy/wet. Having drainage hole in the pots goes a long way in ensuring there is no water stagnating on top of the soil. You can spray the plant occasionally.

Fertilise the plant once a month in summers however Don't feed any fertiliser in winters. Giving fertiliser to the plant ensures nutrients going in which keeps it healthy. Keep an eye on the leaves of the plant to know any symptoms for watering or sunlight.
