Description

Aglaonema Emerald Beauty Plant is evergreen perennial herbs with stems growing erect or decumbent and creeping. Stems that grow along the ground may root at the nodes. There is generally a crown of wide leaf blades which in wild species are often variegated with silver and green coloration. They are slow growing and will only need repotting every other year. Aglaonema are generally low-growing plants that will only very gradually reveal their trunks.

Aglaonema Maria is much more compact with dark green foliage followed by bands of silver-gray lying on top. The new leaves are bright green which later on turn to teal colour. It is not as sensitive to cold as “Silver Queen” so it can be used in many other interior settings. It is a slow grower.

Environment

The darker green varieties can grow in near shade, while the variegated varieties require brighter light. Do not expose to direct sun. This plant will do quite well with just artificial lighting. Water thoroughly in the summer, and mist often to raise humidity. During the winter, reduce watering but do not let the plant dry completely. Seek to raise humidity in general.

Landscape Use

Suitable for Container, Hanging Basket, Office Space

Care Tips

Aglaonemas do best in warm, humid and bright conditions. The darker green varieties of aglaonema can grow in near shade, while the variegated varieties require brighter light. Do not expose any aglaonema to direct sunlight as it will burn the leaves.

Water thoroughly in the summer and mist the plant often to raise the humidity. During the winter, reduce watering but do not let the plant dry out completely.

Aglaonemas can be potted in well drained soil and should be fertilised twice a month during the growing season.
