Pink Flowering Living Stone Succulent
Aloinopsis spathulata belongs to the Aizoaceae family and is native to South Africa. This compact living stone succulent is known for its distinctive spoon-shaped grey-green leaves that form attractive low-growing rosettes. The thick fleshy foliage helps the plant conserve moisture, making it well adapted to arid environments.
Over time, the plant develops small clusters that create an appealing miniature succulent display. Its unusual foliage shape and colourful blooms make it a desirable addition to living stone and mesemb collections.
Flower Colour & Blooming
Bright pink to magenta daisy-like flowers with pale centres appear mainly from September to December under Indian growing conditions. The blooms open during sunny daylight hours and provide a striking contrast against the grey-green foliage.
Growing Conditions
Aloinopsis spathulata thrives in bright light and benefits from several hours of direct sunlight daily. Use a highly porous, well-drained succulent mix containing coarse sand, grit or perlite to prevent excess moisture around the roots.
This species is primarily a winter-growing succulent and may slow down during the hottest summer months. Allow the growing medium to dry between waterings and reduce watering during dormancy. Avoid prolonged wet conditions, particularly during humid weather.
A shallow pot with excellent drainage is ideal. Light feeding during the active growing season helps maintain healthy growth and encourages flowering.
Display & Uses
Its compact size makes it ideal for succulent collections, windowsill gardens, dish gardens, ventilated terrariums, rock gardens and xeriscaping displays. The distinctive spoon-shaped foliage and colourful flowers make it an attractive specimen for decorative containers and collector succulent arrangements.
