Description

Purple “Formosa” as the most resistant to cold and therefore with the most flowers during the summer. It is the only Bougainvillea to bloom in July and August when all the other bougainvilleas enter into a period of rapid growth. Another distinct character is that the old flowers do not fall off even after they dry.

Environment

Bougainvillea are easy to grow and flower if grown under maximum light and stressed with dryness. Bring the soil to a state of visual dryness between watering. The best flowering occurs when the plants are brought to a slight wilt between watering. When watering, thoroughly saturate the soil until a little water runs out of the bottom of the pot. Growing in a clay pot will help maintain a healthy root system.
