Environment
Most bromeliads grow best in medium or bright light. Some can take direct sun on their foliage, but others prefer the protection of a sheer curtain or translucent blinds if grown in a sunny window. They are low maintenance & have medium to light water requirements. Make sure not to over water your bromeliad as it can lead to root rot. A drainage hole in your pot will go a long way to ensure drainage of excess water from the pot.
Canistropsis billbergioides likes a place in the shade; it does not grow well if its
surroundings are too sunny. They do best in shady areas so it pays to plant them under trees, or in areas that don't receive a lot of afternoon sun. This exotic plant does well at all normal temperatures in the home or on a terrace or balcony.
The soil can be really moist, but stagnant water near the roots should be avoided. It is best if the soil of the Canistropsis billbergioides is properly permeable and consists partly of peat.
