Description
Carex ornithopoda Variegata is a compact, clump-forming, evergreen perennial sedge, about 20cm tall, with tufts of arching white variegated, glossy green leaves with narrow, creamy-white margins that reach a height of 30cm. Produces brown flower spikes within the foliage, during mid to late spring.
Pencilled arching leaves only 12" high make this a fine variegated sedge for rock gardens or other spots which invite a close look.
Environment
They will thrive in fertile, well-drained soil in sunny or partially shaded areas of the garden.
Cut out any dead leaves in summer.Plant out as soon as possible. Effective if planted then surrounded by pebbles. Plant in the border or in containers.
