Product Description

Pleiospilos Nelii is a small clump forming stemless, perennial ,leaf succulent nearly spherical vaguely reminding for a Lithops. Mesembs can reach a height of up to 8 cm and a diameter of up to 10 cm.

Yellow Flowering Clumping Conophytum

Conophytum flavum subsp. novicium is a dwarf succulent native to South Africa belonging to the Aizoaceae family. It forms dense clusters of compact, inversely conical bodies composed of thick, almost completely fused leaves. The greyish-green to deep green bodies are smooth to finely textured and often marked with darker green spots.

Like many Conophytums, this species remains compact, making it highly desirable for succulent collectors and small-space gardening. The plant gradually forms attractive clumps over time while maintaining its neat growth habit.

Flower Colour & Blooming

Bright yellow daisy-like flowers emerge in Autumn to Early Winter and open during the day, usually in the morning. The blooms can reach up to 2 cm in diameter and create a striking contrast against the compact green bodies.

Environment

Native to arid regions of South Africa, Conophytum Novicium thrives in bright light and excellent drainage. Indoors, place it near a bright south-facing or west-facing window. Outdoors, provide filtered sunlight, good air circulation and protection from excessive rain.

Allow the growing medium to dry completely between waterings. Water sparingly during active growth and reduce watering significantly during periods of dormancy. Avoid prolonged moisture around the roots.

The long taproot benefits from a container at least 9–10 cm deep with adequate drainage holes. Use a free-draining succulent mix amended with coarse sand, grit or perlite to prevent water retention.

Landscape & Indoor Use

Its miniature size makes it ideal for succulent collections, windowsill gardens, dish gardens, terrariums with ventilation, rock gardens and xeriscaping displays. It is particularly suited to decorative containers where its unique form and seasonal blooms can be appreciated up close.
