Description

The double or clustered flower of Dwarf Ruffled Edge Crape Jasmine is gorgeous, about 5 cm across with ruffled edges and has a slight fragrance. The dark green, shiny leaves are about 15cm long and 3-4cm wide and form a lovely contrast with the pure white clustered flowers.

The shrub generally grows to a height of 2 ft. However, it can also grow into a small tree with a thin, crooked stem. Like many members of the Oleander family, stems exude milky latex when broken. The large shiny leaves are deep green.

Crape jasmine blooms in spring but flowers appear sporadically all year. The waxy blossoms are white five-petaled pinwheels that are borne in small clusters on the stem tips.

Environment

Crepe jasmines thrive outdoors in warm climates& needs a well drained soil. The plant grows in both full sun or partial shade. The plant prefers a little acidic soil.

Feed once monthly with a balanced organic fertiliser. If the soil is very alkaline, crepe jasmine care will include more frequent applications of fertilizer.

Landscape Use

Hardy plant suited to rockeries, borders and pots.

Jasmine produces charming little star-shaped white blooms that often have pink highlights on the petals. In addition to looking beautiful, the Jasmine flower also has a pleasant sweet smell that is calming to your body.

Jasmine plants like bright sunlight, so if the plant is indoors, make sure that it is getting sunlight for up to four hours a day. Having the plant in front of a southern facing window will do wonders for its growth. During the winter months, the plant will not need quite as much direct sunlight.

Jasmine plants need a lot of water, especially when they are in bloom. It is best to always keep the soil slightly moist. The soil mixture should remain moist throughout the year, but not soggy. Less water is needed during the resting period following bloom decline. You can repot the Jasmine if spring if needed. Fertilise the plant with a liquid fertiliser once in 2-3 weeks during bloom period.
