Product Description

Ficus Pumila Variegata is a vigorous, self-clinging, evergreen vine that holds securely to any surface via aerial rootlets.

Fast-Growing Creeping Vine for Walls, Hanging Baskets & Vertical Gardens

Ficus Pumila Repens, commonly known as Creeping Fig, is a vigorous self-clinging evergreen vine from the Moraceae family, native to East Asia. Loved for its dense trailing foliage and climbing habit, this fast-growing plant forms beautiful green coverage over walls, fences, moss poles, railings, and architectural surfaces.

The plant produces small heart-shaped juvenile leaves that cling tightly to surfaces using aerial rootlets, creating a lush textured appearance. As the plant matures, foliage becomes slightly larger with more pronounced venation and outward-growing stems. Under suitable outdoor conditions, mature plants may occasionally develop small pear-shaped fig-like fruits.

Its trailing and climbing growth habit makes it ideal for hanging baskets, balcony planters, terrariums, vertical gardens, indoor green walls, and decorative landscape coverage.

Growing Environment

Ficus Pumila Repens thrives in bright indirect sunlight or partial shade and prefers protection from harsh afternoon sun and strong dry winds. Grow in a well-draining, humus-rich potting mix that retains light moisture without becoming soggy.

Keep the soil consistently moist with regular watering, especially during warmer months. Apply a balanced general-purpose fertilizer every 15 days during the active growing season for lush foliage and vigorous growth.

Landscape & Styling Uses

This versatile creeping vine is perfect for covering garden walls, fences, tree trunks, balconies, trellises, moss poles, and vertical structures. It also performs beautifully in hanging baskets, terrariums, and indoor décor spaces where its cascading foliage adds a rich tropical look.

An area with bright indirect sunlight is the best place to keep a Ficus plant. They do not like constant changes in temperature hence do not like to be moved around too much.

Use a well draining soil to pot the ficus. You can alternatively also use a combination of coco peat, perlite and compost. Over watering is as detrimental as under watering for ficus. Make sure you pour just enough water into the pot to seep through the drainage holes. Best way to measure it are the leaves. If the leaves fold easily, you make have over watered it. If the leaves are crinkly you may have under watered it.
