Description
Dancing Girl is a dainty shade loving dwarf ginger which grows about 50 cm tall with pretty glossy green foliage. The leaves are typically held alternately along the stems.
The most distinctive feature of Globba schomburgkii is its unusual and beautiful flowers. The inflorescence resembles a cluster of hanging lanterns or dancing ladies, which is why it has earned its common names. The flowers are typically yellow, but some variations can have a tinge of orange or red. They have a tubular shape with flared, petal-like lobes that curl backward.
The flowers are unique with hanging yellow flowers that stick out from the brackets making a beautiful flower display.
Environment
They grow well in shaded areas and seem to do well in pots and containers on shaded patios, conservatories and indoors. They grow well in fertile well drained soil.
To ensure the plant flowers each year you need to to make sure that you cut off the dead leaves at the end of each season.
Keep the rhizomes dry during the winter and feed with organic fertiliser in spring as new leaves appear.
Landscape Use
It is suitable as an ornamental plant in shaded area
