Description

Pink LaFrance Hibiscus is an evergreen shrub/small tree that averages 8 to 10 feet in height with a spread of 4 to 5 feet. Its habit of growth is upright, symmetrical, and many-stemmed with a moderately dense Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Pink LaFrance' flowers closeupcrown. It is most often seen trained as a small tree with a somewhat weeping appearance. It has a moderate to fast growth rate.

Leaves are evergreen, alternate in arrangement, shiny, simple with serrate margins, and dark green in color.

The flowers are light pink with a dark pink throat and veins, about 4 inches across, single, and usually somewhat frilly on the margins. It will bloom most of the year in warmer areas. They usually only last one day.

Environment

Hibiscus is heat tolerant and prefers neutral to acidic, well-drained soil and full sun.

Being a fast growing plant, hibiscus prefer well drained rich soil and regular watering. Thoroughly water to moisten the entire root-ball each time you water. Allow the soil to become slightly dry between watering approximately to a depth of between 1/2" deep for small containers to 1" deep for large containers. Never keep the soil soggy. Avoid using a saucer or empty any excess water from it 30-40 minutes after watering.

Landscape Use

Ideal for container plant or mixed border. Dainty white is almost constantly visited by a variety of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
