Description
Hoya globulosa has beautiful broad and long green leaves with dark veining and covered in short fuzzy hairs litter the vining stems of this Hoya. The darker veins can give the top of the leaf an alligator skin like pattern. .The inflorescence is made up of multiple flowers, hanging or more upright, grouped in an umbel. The flowers are yellow and white flowers with purple centers. They are star-shaped, and are borne in clusters that look like they are made of wax. The flower's surface has a smooth appearance without the tiny hairs seen in many other Hoya. They are heavily scented and may produce excess nectar that drips from the flowers.
The plant flowers from spring to late summer, it can produce umbels of 5 to 15 small star-shaped flowers that mature gradually (2 to 3 weeks) on the same peduncle. The scent is strongest in the early evening.
Environment
Easy to grow & don't require much attention. Hoya do best in filtered light or with lots of artificial light in indoors.
Hoya plants don't ask for much, beyond the well-draining soil and the warm humid conditions ((similar to bromeliads and orchids)
They are epyphite, can be grown in orchid medium or light potting mix with lots of bark conditioner. Hoya like the security of a snug pot, and plants that are a bit root bound will flower more prolifically than those that are swimming around in a giant pot.
This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds .
Landscape Use
It makes a nice hanging basket, but also does really well as a mounted plant
