Description
The Hoya Imperialis 'White' variety has the same strong climbing habit as the standard Hoya Imperialis. Its glossy, oval-shaped leaves are large and the plant is renowned for its beautiful, fragrant star-shaped flowers that are creamy-white in color.
This sought-after plant is highly esteemed for its elegant appearance and unique floral arrangement. The elongated leaves are thick and dark green, with lime green buds that add to its ornamental appeal. Its large, waxy flowers are approximately 7-10 cm in diameter and are either creamy-white or pale ivory, with petals that slightly curve back and a white or soft pink center, creating an impressive contrast.
These lovely flowers are grouped in umbels of 5-10 blooms and typically bloom from late spring to early autumn, although they can blossom throughout the year in consistently humid, tropical conditions.
This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds .
Environment
Easy to grow & don't require much attention. Hoya do best in filtered light or with lots of artificial light in indoors. It prefers high humidity (60–80%)
Hoya plants don't ask for much, beyond the well-draining soil and the warm humid conditions ((similar to bromeliads and orchids)
Hoya Imperialis White can be grown in well-draining epiphytic mix—orchid bark, perlite, and coco chips work well. Hoya like the security of a snug pot, and plants that are a bit root bound will flower more prolifically than those that are swimming around in a giant pot.
Landscape Use
It makes a nice hanging basket, but also does really well as a mounted plant
