Product Description

Kokedama is a traditional bonsai discipline in which the roots of a plant are bound into a spherical form with moss and clay. The Kokedama collection celebrates simplicity and the integrity of natural materials and processes. Its clever design means that layers of soil, moss and thread not only create a self contained vessel for the plant to grow but a living sculptural object.

Kokedama Dwarf Jade Moss Ball

Japanese Kokedama art featuring Dwarf Jade nestled in a lush moss ball, displayed on a natural wooden saucer. No pot needed — compact, drought-tolerant succulent for elegant tabletop décor.

Handcrafted Kokedama moss ball with Dwarf Jade (Crassula ovata), a slow-growing succulent with thick fleshy leaves. Roots thrive in a soil-less, nutrient-rich medium, making it ideal for shelves, windows, or corners. Low-maintenance greenery with a unique Japanese aesthetic.

Environment Requirements

  • Light: Bright indirect (south-facing window ideal)
  • Temperature: 18–27°C (avoid below 10°C)
  • Humidity: 40–60% (mist moss weekly)
  • Placement: Indoor, away from AC drafts

Kokedama Care Instructions

  • Water: Soak entire ball 5–15 mins weekly (lift test — light = soak)
  • Fertilizer: Biotonic Seaweed Extract — mix in soak water monthly
  • Humidity: Mist moss cover weekly (keep green, not soggy)
  • Pruning: Trim leggy growth annually
  • Repot: Every 2 years in fresh akadama mix

Fertilizer Recommendation

Biotonic Seaweed Extract is perfect for the Kokedama soak method: – Mix 1ml per liter soak water monthly (March–August) – Skip winter completely – Safe for moss and jade roots

Kokedama needs watering only once the moss ball gets dry. If the moss or the soil feels a little moist, avoid watering it. To water it, fill a small bowl/container with water and place your Kokedama in it with the moss getting soaked in the water. If you have bought the tray along with the Kokedama, you can use that also. Allow the moss ball to soak water for 20-30 minutes for it to get fully saturated. Remove the moss ball from the water and gently squeeze it so that the excess water drips out. Keep the moss ball in a bright spot after water.

Kokedama light requirement majorly depends not the type of plant. Sansevieria and Haworthia Kokedamas can be kept anywhere you need, however Kokedama with ferns and other plants will need a bright filtered space.
