Organic Curled Parsley – Aromatic Herb with Finely Curled Leaves
Organic Curled Parsley (Apiaceae family), native to the Central Mediterranean region, is the best-known garnishing herb with beautiful, dark green finely curled leaves. It is a great winter garden plant and looks stunning in containers with pansies or other seasonal color.
Environment
Parsley thrives in full sun to partial shade depending on the season. Curled parsley is less heat tolerant than flat-leaf Italian parsley, often slowing growth in summer heat. It grows best in rich, moist soil. Keep soil consistently moist after planting until well-rooted. In containers, irrigate whenever soil is dry. With shallow roots, parsley should not be allowed to dry out for long.
Harvesting & Storage
Pick leaves at any point in the growing season by snipping stems back to the base of the plant. For short-term storage, wrap unwashed stems in a paper towel, place in a sealed plastic bag, and refrigerate for up to 7–10 days. For longer storage, freeze leaves individually on a tray, in freezer bags, or chop and freeze in ice cubes.
Landscape Uses
Curly parsley is highly ornamental and works beautifully as edging for large pots of nasturtiums. It can also be grown in hanging baskets (keep well-watered), window boxes (provide shade in high summer), and decorative containers.
