Description
Passiflora Biflora a gorgeous climber with bisexual flowers grow up to 3.5cm wide, the sepals are white on the inner surface and light green on the outer surface. The petals are white, the corona filaments are arranged in two rows and are yellow-green in colour, the outer filaments are angled and dilated around the middle. They are followed by fruits of a purple so dark they appear black
The bilobate leaves are simple and can grow up to 10cm long and wide. It has 3 conspicuous sub-veins spreading outwards from the base, the leaf lobes are ovate to lanceolate in shape.
This is a fast growing vine upto 8' to 20' which produces abundant flowers in winters and continues to flower on and off throught the year.Buttflies are extremly fond of Passion flowers.
Environment
Full sun, a southern exposure, is necessary for optimum growth and flowering. If flowers fail to open, it is usually due to insufficient light.
Bring the soil to a state of visual dryness between waterings. When watering, thoroughly saturate the soil until a little water runs out of the bottom of the pot. Growing in a clay pot will help maintain a healthy root system.
