Single Multiflora Petunia

Description

Petunia Debonair Black Cherry features striking black trumpet-shaped flowers with hints of burgundy-red undertones, complimented by vibrant dark green foliage and a glistening shimmer in the sunlight. The pointed green leaves maintain their color throughout the season, and these compact plants, standing at 6-8 inches tall, boast dazzling 2.5-3 inch flowers. With superior resilience to inclement weather, this multi-flora petunia is an excellent option to attract hummingbirds to any garden.

Environment

Plant Petunia in light, rich soil that is well-drained. It thrives in full sun and should be spaced 8" to 12" apart in beds. To germinate, sow seeds in trays or flat beds, pressing them into the soil without covering. Optimal germination temperature is 70-75°F, with germination occurring in 7-21 days. When transplanting into the garden, space plants 7-18 inches apart. For continuous blooming, lightly trim back plants after initial flowering. Petunias also make ideal container plants.

Landscape

Create a cascading effect by planting these seeds along the container's edge. They are perfect for hanging baskets.

Make sure your seedling tray or pot (whichever you choose) has a drainage hole in it. If you choose a pot, a 5€ pot should be fine. You can either use well drained soil or make a combination of 1 part each of cocopeat, vermiculite and perlite.

While sowing seeds make sure the soil is damp and not wet. Water the seeds as the soil starts to dry. It should always be moist, but never wet or muddy. Do not water the seeds if the soil is already moist to the touch, as overwatering your plant can be just as harmful as underwatering.

Keep the seedling tray in bright filtered light to begin with. Slowly introduce the plant to morning sun and bring it back in before the afternoon sun sets in. In a weeks time you can put it in direct sunlight.
