Product Description

Rain Lily 'Flora Love' is an attractive flowering bulb producing vibrant pink to magenta-pink blooms with broad, pointed petals and a delicate yellow-green centre. The flowers feature subtle lighter pink streaks, adding depth and texture to their appearance. Its slender, grass-like foliage forms neat clumps, making it suitable for growing in pots, garden borders, rock gardens and landscape beds.

Vibrant Pink Blooms with a Delicate Yellow Centre

Rain Lily 'Flora Love' is a beautiful flowering bulb belonging to the Amaryllidaceae family and native to the tropical and subtropical regions of the Americas. This attractive Zephyranthes variety is admired for its compact, clump-forming habit, graceful grass-like foliage, and reliable blooming after rainfall. Its vibrant flowers and easy-care nature make it an excellent choice for gardens, balconies, patios, and decorative containers.

Flora Love produces striking star-shaped flowers in vibrant pink to magenta-pink shades, featuring broad, pointed petals with delicate lighter pink streaks. The flowers have a soft yellow-green centre accented by prominent yellow to cream-coloured stamens, creating an attractive contrast against the vivid petals. Growing to approximately 15–25 cm in height with a spread of 10–15 cm, this compact variety flowers during the monsoon and post-monsoon season, often blooming within days of rainfall. Its colourful flowers and neat foliage make it suitable for borders, rock gardens, and decorative pots.

Environment

Sunlight: Thrives in full sun to partial shade. At least 4–6 hours of direct sunlight daily promotes healthy growth and abundant flowering.

Watering: Water moderately during active growth, allowing the soil to drain well between watering. Reduce watering once the foliage naturally enters dormancy.

Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Avoid prolonged waterlogging to maintain healthy bulbs.

Fertilizer: Feed every 4–6 weeks during the growing season with a balanced flowering fertilizer to encourage vigorous growth and repeat blooms.

Landscape Uses

  • Excellent for colourful borders, edging, and flower beds.
  • Ideal for balcony planters, patio containers, and window boxes.
  • Perfect for rock gardens and naturalised landscapes.
  • Creates attractive mass displays when planted in groups.
  • An easy-care flowering bulb that adds vibrant seasonal colour to gardens after rainfall.

Zephyranthes will grow well in full sun to full shade, and do quite well in containers. Some dappled shade or afternoon shade is usually tolerated, especially in hot climates.
Rain lilies thrive in average to rich garden soil. The bulbs exhibit tolerance to a wide range of drainage situations, both boggy and sandy conditions.
While rain lilies can survive periods of drought, flowers will not appear until a summer soaking triggers the blooms. Daily irrigating & sprinkling the bulbs thoroughly will also prompt flowering.
Rain lilies are best suited for warm, humid environments. They do not need to be fertilized, but little spread of compost over the ground before they emerge in the spring can give more bloom.
Rain lilies grow well in pots. The tops of the bulbs should be covered by an inch of soil. Although generally planted 2–4 inches apart when in the ground, when grown in containers, rain lily bulbs can be placed closer together, as they prefer being crowded.
