Product Description

Rain Lily Pink Butterfly produces delicate pink and white star-shaped flowers with deeper pink streaks and golden-yellow centres. This charming Zephyranthes variety is ideal for pots, borders, rock gardens, and naturalised displays.

Pink-Striped Star-Shaped Blooms with a Soft White Centre

Rain Lily 'Pink Butterfly' is an attractive bulbous perennial from the Amaryllidaceae family, appreciated for its delicate flowers and slender, grass-like foliage. The plant develops neat clumps of narrow green leaves, with slender flower stems rising above the foliage to display its charming blooms. Its compact growth and graceful appearance make it well suited to pots, garden borders, rock gardens, and naturalised planting.

Pink Butterfly produces elegant star-shaped flowers in shades of bright pink and soft white, with deeper pink streaks extending along the petals from the centre. The lighter inner portion creates a beautiful contrast with the vivid pink outer petals, while the golden-yellow stamens add a warm accent to each bloom. Like other Rain Lilies, its flowers are especially rewarding after rainfall or thorough watering, when fresh blooms emerge above the foliage and bring a delicate splash of colour to the garden.

Environment

Sunlight: Grow in full sun for the best flowering, although the plants can tolerate some light afternoon shade in very hot conditions. Good sunlight encourages vigorous foliage and more frequent blooms.

Watering: Keep the soil moderately moist during active growth. Rain Lilies respond well to moisture and may produce fresh flowers following rainfall or thorough watering, but prolonged waterlogging should be avoided.

Soil: Prefers loose, fertile, well-drained soil that allows excess water to drain quickly. Adding compost or organic matter before planting helps support healthy bulb development.

Fertilizer: Feed with a balanced bulb or flowering fertilizer during active growth. Occasional feeding helps maintain healthy foliage and encourages repeated flowering.

Landscape Uses

  • Ideal for colourful borders, edging, and small garden beds.
  • Excellent choice for pots, planters, and balcony gardens.
  • Works beautifully in rock gardens and naturalised bulb displays.
  • Plant in groups to create a fuller display of pink and white flowers.
  • Combines well with other bulbs and low-growing flowering plants for seasonal colour.

Zephyranthes will grow well in full sun to full shade, and do quite well in containers. Some dappled shade or afternoon shade is usually tolerated, especially in hot climates.
Rain lilies thrive in average to rich garden soil. The bulbs exhibit tolerance to a wide range of drainage situations, both boggy and sandy conditions.
While rain lilies can survive periods of drought, flowers will not appear until a summer soaking triggers the blooms. Daily irrigating & sprinkling the bulbs thoroughly will also prompt flowering.
Rain lilies are best suited for warm, humid environments. They do not need to be fertilized, but little spread of compost over the ground before they emerge in the spring can give more bloom.
Rain lilies grow well in pots. The tops of the bulbs should be covered by an inch of soil. Although generally planted 2–4 inches apart when in the ground, when grown in containers, rain lily bulbs can be placed closer together, as they prefer being crowded.
