Fragrant Pink Rose Blooms
Rosa indica, commonly known as Desi Gulab or Chaitri Gulab, is an attractive flowering rose belonging to the Rosaceae family. This traditional Indian rose is valued for its fragrant pink flowers, attractive green foliage and naturally graceful growth. Its abundant blooms and classic rose form make it a popular choice for home gardens, courtyards and sunny outdoor spaces.
The plant develops branching, thorny stems bearing pinnately compound leaves with serrated green leaflets. It produces clusters of full, multi-petalled pink flowers, giving the plant a lush and colourful appearance when in bloom. The combination of fragrant pink blooms, dense green foliage and the traditional character associated with Desi Gulab makes it particularly appealing for Indian gardens and flowering plant collections.
Flower Colour & Blooming
The flowers are characteristically pink, with numerous overlapping petals that create full, rounded blooms. The flowers are pleasantly fragrant and are produced abundantly during the flowering season under suitable growing conditions. In Indian gardens, flowering can occur over an extended period when the plant receives adequate sunlight, watering and nutrition.
Environment
Sunlight: Grow in full sun to provide strong light for healthy foliage and abundant flowering. Around 5–6 hours or more of direct sunlight is beneficial for good flowering.
Watering: Water regularly during active growth and flowering, allowing the upper layer of soil to dry slightly between watering. Avoid prolonged waterlogging around the roots.
Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. A loose growing medium with good drainage supports healthy roots and vigorous growth.
Fertilizer: Feed periodically during active growth and flowering with a balanced rose fertilizer or suitable organic fertilizer to encourage healthy foliage and blooms.
