Silken Pincushion Cactus
Mammillaria bombycina is an attractive cactus belonging to the Cactaceae family and native to Central Mexico. This species is admired for its dense covering of fine white radial spines that create a silky, woolly appearance around the stem. Each areole also bears a distinctive hooked central spine, adding texture and character to the plant.
As the plant matures, it readily produces offsets from the base, gradually forming dense clusters of stems. During the flowering season, bright pink flowers appear in a circular crown around the top of the cactus, creating a striking contrast against the white spination and making it a favourite among cactus collectors.
