Description
Stevia is a shrub like perennial plant which is used as sugar substitute and in the treatment of some health conditions. The leaves of Stevia plant are upto 5 cm long , dark green , simple alternate , toothed , elliptical with white tubed female flowers. Stems are erect & pubescent.
Stevia is a source of zero calorie sweetener and the sweetness of leaves is more than sugar.
Environment
Stevia plant grows best in well drained , rich, red & sandy loam soil. Plant prefers a acidic to neutral soil. It prefers a average temperature upto 30 C Fertilizer and manures with low nitrogen content is best suitable.
