Description
Hoya linearis leaves are light green, hairy and very narrow. They are about 4-6 cm long and only 4-5 mm wide. The plant blooms when the days get shorter, i e in the fall and winter. The flowers have white corolla, white corona with a little pink in the center. These flowers are sometimes flat, but mostly a little recurved, about 1 cm in diameter and 10-15 flowers in an umbel. The flowers last about 5 days, produce little nectar and the fragrance is closest described as lemon-ish.
This plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds.
Environment
Easy to grow & don't require much attention. Hoya does best in filtered light or with lots of artificial light in indoors.
Hoya plants don't ask for much, beyond the well-draining soil and the warm humid conditions ((similar to bromeliads and orchids)
They are epyphite, can be grown in orchid medium or light potting mix with lots of bark conditioner. Hoya like the security of a snug pot, and plants that are a bit root bound will flower more prolifically than those that are swimming around in a giant pot.
Landscape Use
Suitable for a nice hanging basket, but also does really well as a mounted plant
