Description
hibiscus 'Amour' has large, thin, flowers that are pink and white. The wavy petals are are white but have have edges in varying shades of pink and pale pink. This medium sized tropical hibiscus is vigorous and blooms modestly over an extended period of time.
The glossy leaves of 'Amour' are light to medium green and oval to somewhat wedge-shaped. Its flowers are large, radial and flattened, and may curve gracefully backward, even rolling in hot weather. In the small burgundy center is a pink floral tube with a bottle brush of bright yellow anthers and red stigmas, adding additional floral delight and contrast.
Environment
Hibiscus is heat tolerant and prefers neutral to acidic, well-drained soil and full sun.
Being a fast growing plant, hibiscus prefer well drained rich soil and regular watering. Thoroughly water to moisten the entire root-ball each time you water. Allow the soil to become slightly dry between watering approximately to a depth of between 1/2" deep for small containers to 1" deep for large containers. Never keep the soil soggy. Avoid using a saucer or empty any excess water from it 30-40 minutes after watering.
Landscape Use
Ideal for container plant or mixed border. Hibuscus plants are almost constantly visited by a variety of bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
